Crushes and Flirting

Having a crush on someone (liking them enough to want to date them) is fun. Not everyone has a crush, and that is normal, too. You might have sexual feelings and want to have sex with that person. This is normal. It is imperative (highly important) for adolescents to wait until they are grown adults to engage in sex.

Some pubescent boys who have a crush like to flirt with that person. They flirt by talking to the person or doing things like giving notes, texting, smiling or staring, moving closer, or, for example, the boy touching the other person’s shoe with his shoe when they are sitting across from one another. If you have a crush and are too timid to talk with that person, that's okay, too.

Don’t flirt with people who are not your same age, such as adults and teachers. Refrain from flirting when there is something else you should be doing.

The person you really like might not feel the same way about you. If the person avoids you or does things that show they are not interested, then you must respect their decision and no longer flirt with them.
